There are two widely accepted methods for learning to ride Freeskates.
- The most common approach, popularized by JMKRIDE.
- Concept: Start on a gentle incline to roll down and gain momentum naturally.
- Focus: Allows you to focus purely on balance and foot positioning first, without the added complexity of generating force on flat ground. Once comfortable rolling, you start introducing the pumping motion.
- An alternative, highly effective progression method (detailed in this tutorial video).
- Concept: Practice balance and pumping mechanics on one leg at a time before putting both skates together.
- Focus: Isolates leg movement to build independent muscle memory faster, reducing the initial coordination overload many beginners face.
- it is recommended to learn both Stances at the same time to more quickly build up muscle memory
